Police Seeking Witnesses After Stray Tire Causes Garden State Parkway Crash

SOUTH TOMS RIVER, N.J. — The New Jersey State Police are asking for the public’s assistance in investigating a serious motor vehicle crash that occurred on Thursday, October 17, on the Garden State Parkway near milepost 81 in South Toms River, Ocean County.

According to detectives, the crash happened at approximately 3:23 p.m. when a spare wheel became dislodged from an unknown vehicle traveling northbound. The wheel struck a motorist heading southbound, resulting in serious injuries to the driver.

Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or has information about the events leading up to or following the incident, to contact the Troop “D” Galloway Station Detective Bureau at 732-441-4500 ext. 5916.
