Silver Spring, MD – The Montgomery County Police Department’s Third District officers have successfully seized several handguns since the start of the new year, intensifying efforts to ensure community safety.

Highlighting these efforts, on January 11, Third District officers responded to an attempted carjacking incident. They apprehended two juveniles armed with handguns. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported during the incident.

In a move to enhance community engagement and transparency, the Third District is committed to keeping residents informed about the police work in their area in 2024.

Residents are encouraged to follow the department on Nextdoor for updates on police activities and information about community events, such as “coffee with a cop.” These events offer opportunities for community members to meet officers, executive staff, voice concerns, and contribute to strengthening community-police relations.
