Baltimore Officers Recover Stolen Vehicle and Arrest Young Suspect
BALTIMORE, MD – Baltimore police officers were shocked to learn that a routine safety violation ended up in a foot chase with a 12-year-old who was driving a stolen car.
On March 11, at around 3:38 p.m., officers from the Mobile Metro Unit were conducting patrols on the 2800 block of Kirk Avenue. They noticed a 2017 Hyundai Tucson being driven without the use of a seatbelt.
Upon checking the vehicle’s registration, it was discovered that the car had been reported stolen from Anne Arundel County earlier that day. The officers initiated a stop in the 1900 block of East 32nd Street, leading the driver to flee the vehicle.
A brief foot chase ensued, culminating in the arrest of the suspect, a 12-year-old male, without any injuries. The young suspect was then taken to the Southern District station and later released into the custody of his parent.
