Police Suspect Jumped Into Hackensack River, Rescued by Officers

HACKENSACK, NJ – A man being questioned by police in Teaneck jumped into the Hackensack River and required rescue by responding officers.

According to officials, Hackensack, Teaneck, Oradell, and The Bergen County regional scuba task force assisted the Teaneck and Hackensack Police departments in removing a victim from the river.

“The victim was originally being questioned by PD in Teaneck when he dove into the river and began to swim towards Costco in Hackensack. Units were able to remove the victim from the water without incident. Additional resources were called as a precaution in case the situation escalated” police said.
