OCEAN CITY, MD – The Oceans Calling Festival, scheduled from September 29 through October 1, is anticipated to be one of Ocean City’s largest events. The Ocean City Police Department will enforce an alternate traffic pattern downtown due to expected high pedestrian activity each day post-festival.
Traffic changes will be effective after 8 p.m. daily. The following are key elements of the alternate traffic pattern:
- No traffic will be allowed south of N. Division Street.
- The turn lane off US Route 50 bridge onto Philadelphia Avenue will be restricted to emergency and mass transit vehicles and residents only.
- Vehicles will be rerouted onto N. Division Street and north on Baltimore Avenue.
- A traffic flow will be established to direct all southbound traffic on St. Louis Avenue to 2nd Street towards Philadelphia Ave.
- Restrictions on St. Louis Avenue will limit southbound traffic to emergency vehicles, residents, and patrons of downtown businesses.
- Northbound traffic on Baltimore Avenue from S. Division Street to Talbot Street will be reduced to one lane for vehicles.
- Lane 1: Vehicle traffic.
- Lane 2: Mass transit vehicle staging.
- Lane 3: Designated safety lane.
These traffic adjustments aim to improve flow and safety for both vehicles and pedestrians. Traffic patterns will revert to normal after the downtown area clears of festival attendees.
The OC Beach Bus will operate in a reduced-stop, express service mode during the festival. Signs will indicate inactive stops, and riders needing special mobility assistance may coordinate pickups and drop-offs by contacting Dispatch at (410) 723 1606.
