Police Warn Residents to Make Their Cars Less of a Target for Thieves

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD – The Anne Arundel County Police Department recently released some indications regarding Theft from auto prevention.

Theft from auto is an opportunistic crime that can happen in mere seconds, and can be mitigated by following a few prevention strategies.

Visibility of valuable items in a vehicle is a key factor in making it a target for criminals. Items such as wallets, electronics, jewelry, or cash should not be left in unattended vehicles.

If it’s necessary to leave items in a vehicle, it is crucial to store them out of sight, under seats, in the trunk, or in closed compartments.

Alertness and quick response can also play a significant role in prevention. If suspicious activity is noticed, it should be reported by calling or texting 911 immediately.
