HYATTSVILLE, MARYLAND – A $2 wager and a dream was all it took for a lucky Prince George’s County woman to take home a major Powerball win in the Dec. 22 drawing.

Purchasing only a $2 quick-pick ticket, the 77-year-old matched four white balls and the Powerball to capture a $50,000 third-tier prize. The Bladensburg resident visited Champagne Liquors located at 5611 Landover Road in Hyattsville to buy her lucky ticket.

The anonymous player was the only Marylander to win a third-tier prize for that drawing. No one hit the jackpot, which continued to roll until the Jan. 5 drawing when players from Wisconsin and California nabbed the $632.6 million prize.

There is still time to get a Powerball ticket for the Wednesday, Feb. 2 drawing. The jackpot is set at $123 million and the cash option at $84.7 million.
