Prince George’s County Police Investigate Fatal Pedestrian Collision Involving 70-Year-Old

CHILLUM, MD – The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that resulted in the death of 70-year-old Marcos Gonzalez-Chavez.

The incident occurred on December 12, 2023, at approximately 6:00 AM, in the 5900 block of Riggs Road in Chillum. Responding officers found Gonzalez-Chavez in the roadway, suffering from trauma, and pronounced deceased at the scene.

Initial findings suggest that the driver, traveling in the northbound lanes of Riggs Road, struck Gonzalez-Chavez. The driver remained at the scene following the collision and was not injured.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information about this case to contact the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit at 301-731-4422. The police are seeking public assistance to gather more details surrounding the tragic event.
