CAPITOL HEIGHTS, MD – Prince George’s County Police Homicide Unit detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a 45-year-old man late Monday morning in the unincorporated section of Capitol Heights.

Victim pronounced dead at the scene
According to the Prince George’s County Police Department, officers were called to the 5200 block of Marlboro Pike at approximately 11:20 a.m. on February 23 for reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found the victim, identified as David Downs, suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
Downs was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives have not released any suspect information or determined a motive at this stage of the investigation.
