CHESTER COUNTY, PA – Employment was terminated for the prison guard on shift during the escape of murderer Danelo Cavalcante.

Chester County officials verified the firing of the guard, who had served for 18 years, on Thursday.

Cavalcante, 34, broke free from Chester County Prison on August 31 where he had been serving a life sentence for murder.

The ongoing search for Cavalcante involves upwards of 400 law enforcement personnel.

Prison camera recordings captured Cavalcante moving to an isolated corner of the prison yard, bounded by two walls roughly five feet apart, before vanishing.
