Prosecutor offers few details in Lakewood double homicide

LAKEWOOD, NJ – Lakewood Township woke up to a double homicide early Sunday morning, but the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office is releasing few details of the incident at this time.

“We have a suspect in custody and there is no immediate danger to the public at this time,” Prosecutor Billhimer stated.“This is an active investigation and more details will be released when they become available,” Prosecutor Billhimer concluded.

Early reports claim a man armed with a handgun entered a Brentwood apartment and shot a man who was in an apartment with his wife and children. A bystander was also shot and killed. The gunman was confronted by the Lakewood Police Department and tasered before being brought into custody.

Police ordered the man to get on the ground as he just stood still staring at them. When an officer moved in on the victim’s left side, he was tasered and dropped to the ground.
