Queens man, 76, stabbed to death inside home, person of interest in custody

QUEENS, NY – A 76-year-old man was fatally stabbed inside his home late Saturday night in Ozone Park, police said.

Officers responded just before midnight to a 911 call reporting an assault at 159-03 102 Street in the 106th Precinct. When they arrived, they found John Muraco, 76, with a stab wound to the chest.

Emergency medical crews pronounced Muraco dead at the scene. Police confirmed that a person of interest was taken into custody shortly after the incident. The individual has not been publicly identified, and no charges have been announced.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the stabbing. Authorities have not released a possible motive.
