Queens Man Charged in Fatal Hit-and-Run Incident

QUEENS, NY – On Friday, April 28, 2023, at approximately 4:40 AM, police were called to a motor vehicle collision on Jackson Avenue where a 58-year-old male pedestrian was struck and found unconscious. The incident occurred near 10-57 Jackson Avenue, within the 108th Precinct’s jurisdiction.

The victim, who suffered severe head and body injuries, was transported by EMS to New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

In connection with the incident, 20-year-old Joshua Gutierrez of 76-39 85 Road, Queens, NY, has been charged with criminally negligent homicide, leaving the scene of an incident without reporting, tampering with physical evidence, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, third degree.
