Queens man charged in stabbing death of neighbor inside apartment building

QUEENS, N.Y. — A 23-year-old man has been arrested and charged with the murder of his 63-year-old neighbor in a residential building in Queens.

Police responded to a 911 call at 80-45 Winchester Boulevard on Monday at approximately 10:36 a.m. and found Ronald Giacopelli, 63, unconscious and unresponsive inside the building. Authorities say Giacopelli had sustained multiple stab wounds to the back of his neck and lower back.

Emergency medical services pronounced Giacopelli dead at the scene. Police subsequently arrested David Zheng, who also resides at the same address.

Zheng has been charged with second-degree murder, tampering with physical evidence, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. Authorities did not immediately disclose a possible motive or details regarding the events leading up to the attack.

The investigation remains ongoing, according to the NYPD.
