GAITHERSBURG, Md. — A Montgomery County man’s casual lottery purchase turned into a six-figure payday when his Racetrax Superfecta quick-pick ticket hit for $140,903, Maryland Lottery officials announced.

The lucky winner, who occasionally plays Racetrax, bought the $1 ticket on Feb. 18 at Shady Grove Beer & Wine while picking up a Multi-Match ticket for the Feb. 20 drawing. His selected horses—4, 12, 8, and 11—crossed the finish line in perfect order, securing the massive prize.

“I drove back home and I checked it in my driveway,” the winner said. Realizing his win, he rushed inside to share the news with a family member but plans to keep the windfall mostly private. He intends to use the money to pay bills and increase his savings.

Shady Grove Beer & Wine, located at 15904 Shady Grove Road, will also benefit from the win, earning a $1,409 bonus for selling the high-paying ticket.

A Gaithersburg man’s routine lottery stop turned into a life-changing moment with a $140,903 Racetrax jackpot.
