Rhode Island Man Arrested for Luring Young Girl From New Jersey

PROVIDENCE, RI — A Rhode Island man faces detention after his arrest on federal charges of attempted enticement of a minor and transmission of obscene material. United States Attorney Zachary A. Cunha announced the detention following the man’s appearance in U.S. District Court in Providence.

Charging documents state that Jeffrey Locke Slinn, 42, is accused of using various online platforms to communicate with underage girls, including an 11-year-old from New Jersey. Reports allege that from July 2023, Slinn engaged in sexually explicit conversations with the minor and exchanged obscene images and videos.

Arrested on October 26, 2023, Slinn appeared in court on Friday, where the judge ordered his detention in federal custody. The charges against Slinn are part of a complaint, and he remains presumed innocent until proven guilty.
