Rideshare Driver Carjacked, Suspect Arrested in D.C.

WASHINGTON, DC – A 31-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an unarmed carjacking involving a rideshare driver. The incident took place in the 700 block of Monroe Street, Northeast.

Around 3:35 p.m., the victim, working as a rideshare driver, had just dropped off the suspect when the suspect reentered the vehicle. The suspect placed an object against the victim’s back and ordered him to drive. The victim complied but later stopped the car and ran from the vehicle, at which point the suspect drove off.

Officers tracked the stolen vehicle and apprehended the suspect, Kevin Weaver of Southeast, DC. He has been charged with Unarmed Carjacking.
