Rideshare driver fatally shot in Cottage City identified as Hyattsville man

COTTAGE CITY, Md. — A rideshare driver who was shot in Cottage City on New Year’s Day has died of his injuries, Prince George’s County police said Tuesday.

The victim, identified as 36-year-old Oluwatosin Adetula of Hyattsville, was found on the night of Jan. 1 suffering from gunshot wounds in a parking lot in the 3300 block of Bladensburg Road. Officers responded to the scene at approximately 10:40 p.m., and Adetula was transported to a hospital.

He succumbed to his injuries on Sunday, Jan. 7, police confirmed.

Investigators said Adetula was working as a rideshare driver at the time of the shooting. Authorities have not identified any suspects or determined a motive for the killing.

Prince George’s County Police are offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to an arrest and indictment in the case.
