NEW YORK, NY – A rideshare driver was robbed at knifepoint this week. Now, police are asking the public to help identify the suspect.
Police in Queens are investigating a knifepoint robbery that occurred Monday evening when a 19-year-old rideshare driver arrived to pick up a passenger who didn’t want a ride, just his money.
An unidentified male customer was picked up by the driver in the vicinity of 179th Street at approximately 7:15 pm, according to detectives from the 103rd Precinct.
“When the 19-year-old male driver arrived at the area, the individual displayed a knife and forcibly removed $400.00 from him,” the NYPD said in a statement today. “The male then fled northbound on foot on 179 Street.”
The driver, who was not identified, was not injured. No arrests have been made.
