Rita’s in Jackson Cited for Health Code Violations Including Non-Functional Toilet

JACKSON, NJ – Rita’s is Jackson’s most popular ice cream (custard) spot in town, but the Ocean County Health Department wasn’t impressed at conditions at the business.

Employees have been unable to use a toilet for several months according to a citation issued by the department recently. Worse, the walk-up frozen custard store has not had hot water, essential for cleaning and disinfecting.

The Rita’s located on 2105 West County Line Road has received three citations for code violations, including a malfunctioning toilet that has been inoperative for approximately two months.

Additional issues cited include a broken three-bay sink and the absence of hot water.
