Roanoke Shooting Sends One to Hospital; Suspect Arrested

ROANOKE, VA – Early Thursday morning, a shooting incident occurred near the intersection of 9th Street SE and Jamison Avenue SE.

Roanoke Police were alerted at 12:53 a.m. about a person with a gunshot injury.

While officers were en route, they received information that a civilian was transporting the injured individual to a hospital.

Upon reaching the hospital, officers made contact with the victim who had sustained serious injuries.

The police department’s investigation led to the identification and arrest of Shaquai J. Cary, who is now facing charges of malicious wounding. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
