Robbery suspect sought in Newark

NEWARK, NJ – Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying a robbery suspect who assaulted a victim and stole $300 and a cell phone on Saturday. The robbery occurred at approximately 4:40 a.m. in the 100 block of Delancy Street.

The victim was approached by a Black male who punched him in the face and demanded money as the victim fell to the ground.

The suspect then took the victim’s cell phone and a book bag containing his wallet and cash before fleeing westbound on Delancy Street towards Adam Street. The suspect was wearing a gray hat, blue jean jacket, blue jeans, and a green jersey with the number 34. Anyone with information about the suspect is urged to contact Newark Police.
