Man arrested after rock attack leaves victim injured in Southeast DC
WASHINGTON, DC – A 47-year-old man is in custody after an alleged rock assault in Southeast that left one person injured following a confrontation on Pennsylvania Avenue, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
The incident unfolded around 6:10 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, when First District officers responded to reports of an assault near the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and M Street SE.
Police say the suspect had initially thrown a rock through a window in the 1500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue. When the victim confronted him, the suspect allegedly struck the victim in the hands with another rock.
Officers located the suspect shortly afterward and arrested 47-year-old Joseph Norris of Southeast, DC. He has been charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Rock).
The victim’s injuries were not reported to be life-threatening, and no further details about the motive or relationship between the individuals involved have been released.
