Salisbury woman wins $50K jackpot playing Maryland Lottery’s Bonus Match 5
Baltimore, MD — A Salisbury woman is celebrating a $50,015 prize after matching the winning numbers on a Maryland Lottery Bonus Match 5 ticket purchased during a day trip to Ocean Downs Casino earlier this month.
The longtime player, who has participated in Maryland Lottery games since 1981, claimed the prize on Tuesday, September 23, at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. Less than a year ago, she decided to focus her efforts on Bonus Match 5 after feeling other games were yielding fewer wins.
That decision led to her largest lottery prize yet. On September 10, while visiting Ocean Downs Casino in West Ocean City with her husband, a Bonus Match 5 ticket was purchased featuring three number combinations. Later that evening, the ticket was checked against the winning numbers and one combination matched all five drawn numbers for a $50,000 prize. The two remaining combinations added another $15 in lower-tier winnings, bringing the total to $50,015.
The prize marks the woman’s biggest lottery win to date. Though she has not made final plans for the money, she intends to enjoy the win during her retirement and continue participating in lottery games.
The winning ticket was sold at Ocean Downs Casino, located at 10218 Racetrack Road in West Ocean City. The casino will receive a $500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery for selling the winning ticket.
