TRENTON, NJ – New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy stated his state is unprepared to accommodate the influx of migrants stranded in New York City after Atlantic City Airport was designated as an overflow destination by President Joe Biden.

“I don’t see any scenario where we’re going to be able to take in a program in Atlantic City or frankly elsewhere in the state,” Murphy said on News 12.

Murphy conveyed his stance during an interview on News 12 New Jersey’s “Ask Governor Murphy.” According to him, the logistics of hosting such an influx are beyond the state’s capabilities. “You need scale, enormous amount of federal support, resources that go beyond anything that we can afford,” he remarked.

This statement has led to criticism from members of his own party as well as Latin American community leaders, especially since Murphy had previously designated New Jersey as a sanctuary state.
