Schenectady Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash

SCHENECTADY, NY – A 26-year-old Schenectady resident was killed in a fatal motorcycle crash Thursday night.

According to the Schenectady Police Department, the crash took place in the city’s Mont Pleasant neighborhood.

“At approximately 8:00 pm, dispatchers received a call for a motorcycle that struck a vehicle at the intersection of Crane Street and Sixth Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located a male in his mid-twenties suffering from serious injuries,” police reported. “He was treated on scene by the Schenectady Fire Department and transported to Ellis Hospital, where he later passed away from his injuries. He is identified as Kevin A. Figueroa (26-years-old) of Schenectady.”

Police do not suspect any foul play, but are continuing their investigation.

“The driver of the second vehicle, a 60-year-old female of Schenectady, remained on scene and continues to cooperate with the investigation. She was administered standard sobriety testing on scene and alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors. No tickets have been issued at this time,” the department reported.

According to a preliminary investigation, it appears that the second vehicle was traveling East on Crane Street and turning Northbound onto Sixth Avenue when the motorcycle, which was traveling West on Crane Street, struck the passenger’s side of the vehicle. The motorcyclist was not wearing a
helmet at the time of the accident.
