Scotch Plains Resident Arrested for DWI and Traffic Violations in Cranford

CRANFORD, NJ – Keith Gaines, a 62-year-old from Scotch Plains, NJ, was arrested on charges related to impaired driving and traffic violations on April 4, 2024. The incident took place on North Avenue East at Arlington Road around 10:25 PM.

Cranford Police Officer Travis Freeman initiated a traffic stop after observing Gaines avoiding a traffic signal and driving carelessly. Following a brief investigation at the scene, Gaines was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), Avoiding a Traffic Signal, and Careless Driving. He was subsequently released on a summons, with a municipal court hearing pending to address these charges.
