Scratch-off millionaire crowned in Westmoreland County

Pile of money.

GREENSBURG, PA — A $1 million-winning scratch-off ticket was sold in Westmoreland County, the Pennsylvania Lottery announced Tuesday, marking the latest big win in the state’s popular instant game lineup.

The winning ticket was a $1,000,000 Winnings scratch-off, a $20 game offering top prizes of $1 million. It was sold at Rick’s Tobacco Outlet, located at 857 South Main Street in Greensburg. For selling the lucky ticket, the retailer will receive a $5,000 bonus.

The Lottery has not released the identity of the winner. Prizes on scratch-off games must be claimed within one year of the game’s official end-sale date, as posted on the Pennsylvania Lottery’s website.

All prizes of more than $5,000 are subject to state and federal withholding. Players are encouraged to sign the back of their winning tickets immediately and contact the Lottery at 1-800-692-7481 to begin the claims process.

The Lottery reminded the public that scratch-off tickets are distributed randomly and that neither the Lottery nor retailers know where winning tickets will be sold until prizes are claimed.
