Scratching in the garage leads to $50K jackpot

BALTIMORE, Md. — A Baltimore County woman turned a casual scratch-off session in her garage into a $50,000 payday after uncovering the top prize on the MONOPOLY X20 ticket.

The Kingsville resident purchased a handful of scratch-offs from the Royal Farms store at 1915 Belair Road in Fallston, one of her regular lottery stops. Instead of her usual habit of scanning barcodes to check for winners, she decided to scratch the ticket manually — revealing matching numbers and multiple $5,000 prizes.

Overwhelmed by the accumulating total, she called her husband for help. Together, they added up the winnings, confirming the $50,000 top prize. The ticket remained locked in a safe until May 28, when she claimed her prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.

She said she has no immediate plans for the windfall and intends to deposit it into the bank. The Royal Farms location also gets a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

The MONOPOLY X20 scratch-off still has four $50,000 top prizes remaining, with additional second-chance opportunities available through the Maryland Lottery’s promotion.
