MINEOLA, N.Y. – Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly announced today that Seaford resident Patrick Carey, 22, has been sentenced to six months in jail and ten years of probation with sex offender conditions.

Carey pleaded guilty to sharing explicit “deepfake” images of underage women on a [censored]ographic website and posting their personal information, encouraging harassment and threats of sexual violence. Carey must also register as a sex offender.

DA Donnelly proposed the “Digital Manipulation Protection Act” in response to this case, aiming to establish new criminal statutes for “deepfake” [censored]ography and protect New Yorkers from exploitation.
