Search called off for missing teen feared drowned in Holmes Creek

VERNON, FL – The Washington County Sheriff’s Office has called off the search for the night to find a boy feared drowned in Holmes Creek.  The search will resume in the morning.

A call came into the Washington County Communications Center at approximately 2:50 p.m. this afternoon in reference to a drowning.

Sheriff Kevin Crews immediately activated the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Wildlife Commission Dive Teams to search for a 15-year-old boy who friends say was swimming across Holmes Creek and never resurfaced.

At this time the search has been called off and will resume first thing in the morning. If anyone has any information they are asked to please contact the Washington County Sheriff’s Office at 850-638-6111.
