Security Guard Shoots Gunman Near Spectrum Center in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC – A security guard took decisive action in Uptown Charlotte early Sunday morning when a man allegedly aimed a firearm at a woman.

The shooting occurred around 5:30 a.m. on the 300 block of East Fifth Street near the Spectrum Center.

The incident resulted in the security guard shooting the man, inflicting non-life-threatening injuries.

The vicinity of the Spring Hill Suites hotel saw a significant police presence following the event.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) confirmed that the security guard is collaborating with the ongoing investigation and that no other suspects are being sought.
