Senior bashed in the leg and robbed in broad daylight on Fordham Road as thief uses stolen credit card

BRONX, NY – A 76-year-old man was attacked and robbed in broad daylight outside a busy Fordham Road address on Tuesday afternoon, with the suspect later using the victim’s stolen credit card in unauthorized transactions, police said.

The incident unfolded at approximately 4:37 p.m. in front of 201 East Fordham Road, when an unidentified man approached the elderly victim from behind and struck him in the leg with an unknown object, causing him to collapse. As the victim lay injured, the suspect forcibly removed his wallet from his back pants pocket and took off on foot in an unknown direction.

EMS transported the victim to BronxCare Hospital Center where he was listed in stable condition.

Shortly after the violent street robbery, police say the thief used the victim’s credit card for multiple unauthorized transactions, though details on where and how much was spent have not yet been released.

The suspect is described as a male with a dark complexion, approximately 18 to 25 years old, with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, and black sneakers, and was carrying a gray backpack.

The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made.
