Serial thieves target, distract victims, steal debit cards at multiple Citibank locations across NYC

NEW YORK, NY – The New York City Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying a group of individuals connected to a citywide grand larceny pattern across several precincts.

During transactions, the suspects targeted Citibank customers and stole their debit cards and personal identification numbers.

The suspects approached victims inside the bank, claiming they had dropped money, and swapped the victims’ debit cards while they were distracted. Victims were unaware of the theft until they were notified of unauthorized withdrawals from their accounts, ranging from $100 to $21,500.

The incidents occurred at Citibanks located in the 19, 43, 50, 67, 75, 84, 94, 104, 112, and 115 Precincts. No injuries have been reported in any of the incidents.
