KEARNY, NJ – Buses that were to be used for celebrities taking part in this week’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City were destroyed in a lot in Kearny early Sunday morning.

Chrisel Flores, an employee at Royal Buses on Lincoln Highway in South Kearny this morning, confirmed that seven of the company’s movie and television production buses were destroyed in the fire.

The fire was discovered at around 6 am when a groundskeeper arrived for work, but at that point, the fire was already spreading.

Flores said her company rents the buses for events throughout the region and, in the past, has housed celebrities like Jennifer Lopez and Mariah Carey for events in New York City.

An NBC News helicopter flew above the early morning fire as firefighters battled the blaze.

Flores told reporters the company has backup trailers at locations in Parsippany and Brooklyn.
