Frederick woman lands $83,201 jackpot on second FAST PLAY ticket
BALTIMORE, Md. — A Frederick woman who stopped for gas on her way to work ended up claiming an $83,201 progressive jackpot after purchasing a $5 FAST PLAY ticket, according to Maryland Lottery officials.
The winner bought the ticket March 2 at the Sheetz convenience store located at 1300 East Patrick Street in Frederick. The ticket was part of the FAST PLAY World Championship Poker game.
Lottery officials said the player scanned the ticket inside the store and received a message instructing her to see the Lottery. Unsure what the message meant, she showed the ticket to her husband and later scanned it again at another retailer.
The exact prize amount was not confirmed until she visited Maryland Lottery headquarters on March 4, where officials verified the progressive jackpot total of $83,201.
The Frederick resident said the ticket was only the second FAST PLAY ticket she had ever purchased. Her first win on the FAST PLAY game came about two years ago and totaled $500.
The winner is semi-retired and currently works only a few days each week. She plans to share the winnings with family members and take a vacation to the beach.
The Sheetz store that sold the ticket will receive a $832 bonus for selling the progressive jackpot winner.
FAST PLAY World Championship Poker is a $5 instant game that launched Jan. 5. According to the Maryland Lottery, this ticket marks the first progressive jackpot win for the game. Seven progressive jackpots remain available, along with thousands of lower-tier prizes ranging from $5 to $5,000.
