DC man arrested in connection with 2024 Northeast shooting that injured two

WASHINGTON, DC – Nearly 10 months after a shooting left two people injured on a Northeast DC street, a suspect has been arrested and charged with a violent gun-related assault.

On Friday, police arrested 45-year-old Kevin Stanton of Southeast DC in connection with a shooting that occurred on November 7, 2024, in the Unit block of M Street NE. The arrest was made pursuant to a DC Superior Court warrant.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, officers from the Fifth District responded to reports of gunfire around 5:03 p.m. that day. At the scene, they found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound and a female victim who had been grazed. DC Fire and EMS transported the male to a nearby hospital, while the woman was treated at the scene.

Stanton has been charged with Assault with Intent to Kill (Gun). Police have not released details about a possible motive or whether the victims were known to the suspect.

The investigation remains ongoing as officials continue to gather evidence related to the incident.
