Shooting and Accident Claim Lives in Separate Philadelphia Incidents

Philadelphia, PA – Two separate overnight incidents have left one man critically injured and another dead in Philadelphia’s 19th and 39th Districts.

In the early hours, at around 12:53 AM, a 46-year-old male was shot twice in the right thigh on the highway near 2200 N 57th Street. He was rushed to Lankenau Medical Center in critical condition by Medic 41. No arrests have been made, and no weapons were recovered at the scene. The investigation continues under the supervision of the Special Investigations Group.

Later, at approximately 10:57 PM on Sunday, a fatal auto crash occurred at the intersection of Wissahickon Ave. and Clapier St. in the 39th District. The vehicle reportedly made a short turn while attempting to turn left onto eastbound Clapier St., colliding with a traffic light pole.

The driver was extricated by PFD Engine 59 and transported to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:45 PM. The passenger sustained injuries but is listed in stable condition.
