Shooting in Hope Mills Following Alleged Break-In

HOPE MILLS, N.C. – A reported break-in escalated into a shooting incident in Hope Mills. Officers were dispatched to a residence on Crimson Way around 3:50 a.m., where they found an individual with a gunshot wound to their hand.

According to the individual, another person had forcibly entered the house wielding a handgun.

A scuffle ensued, during which the gun discharged, injuring both parties in their hands. The shooter is said to have fled the scene, but the two are reportedly acquainted.

As of now, the relationship between them remains undisclosed.

Police Chief Stephan Dollinger commented on the ongoing investigation, emphasizing that no charges have been made as they continue to piece together the incident’s details.
