Shoplifting Turns Into Robbery and Assault in Newport News

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – The Newport News Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a robbery on Monday, July 1. The incident occurred at approximately 8:46 p.m. at the Farm Fresh located on the 300 block of Chatham Drive.

According to the store owner, a female suspect bypassed all points of sale with several grocery items. When confronted, she struck an employee before fleeing the scene in a black or navy blue four-door crossover vehicle.

Tipsters may remain anonymous, are not required to testify in court, and could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,500 for information leading to an arrest.
