Shore Should Not Pay for NYC, Biden Administration Immigration Nightmare

Migrants continue to cross the border to El Paso

TOMS RIVER, NJ – Lawmakers from New Jersey’s 10th Legislative District, including Senator Jim Holzapfel, Assemblyman Greg McGuckin, and Assemblyman John Catalano, issued a statement criticizing the Biden Administration for proposing Atlantic City Airport as a possible location to house migrants.

The statement condemned what the lawmakers referred to as “disastrous immigration policies” and placed blame on both the Biden Administration and NYC Mayor Eric Adams for the situation. They asserted that New Jersey should not have to bear the consequences of what they view as failed border policies.

The lawmakers also criticized existing state policies, stating that New Jersey’s issues should not be exacerbated by federal decisions.

Since Governor Phil Murphy took office in 2018, they argue that state policies have strained taxpayers by providing benefits to undocumented immigrants while cutting state aid to schools and increasing healthcare costs for teachers and first responders.

The statement closed by calling on Governor Murphy to reject the Biden Administration’s proposal, urging that New Jersey should not have to shoulder problems they believe originate from New York and federal policies.
