Money dispute turns violent as shot fired in Southeast DC arrest made shortly after
WASHINGTON, DC – A late-night argument over money escalated into gunfire behind a Southeast DC apartment complex Saturday, ending with an arrest after a single shot was fired at the victim.
The incident unfolded just before 11 p.m. on September 20, when a dispute between two individuals turned dangerous in the rear of the 100 block of Atlantic Street SE. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the suspect pulled out a handgun during the altercation and fired once in the victim’s direction.
Fortunately, the bullet did not strike the victim, and no injuries were reported.
Responding officers quickly canvassed the area and located the suspect shortly after the incident. Police identified him as 39-year-old Alonzo Hinton of Southeast, DC. He was taken into custody without incident and has been charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun).
The case has been assigned CCN: 25144237 and remains under investigation. No additional details have been released regarding the relationship between the suspect and victim or the nature of the financial dispute.
