Sidewalk Moped Incident Leads to Two Men Injured in Manhattan

NEW YORK, NY – A violent altercation involving a moped rider occurred on a Manhattan sidewalk early Tuesday morning, resulting in two men being injured.

At around 2:40 A.M. on Tuesday, an unidentified male riding a moped on the sidewalk in front of 627 9th Avenue collided with a 56-year-old man standing there. The collision led to a verbal dispute during which the moped rider punched the older man in the face, knocking him unconscious. When the victim’s 38-year-old friend tried to intervene, he too was punched in the face and rendered unconscious by the assailant.

The 56-year-old victim was transported to Mount Sinai West in stable condition, while the 38-year-old was taken to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue in critical condition. The attacker fled the scene on his black moped and remains unidentified. Police are investigating the incident.
