$50,000 Powerball ticket sold in Silver Spring as jackpot surges toward $930 million
SILVER SPRING, MD – One Powerball player in Silver Spring came just one number shy of the massive jackpot in Monday’s drawing but still walked away with a $50,000 prize, according to the Maryland Lottery.
The winning ticket matched four of the five white balls plus the red Powerball, qualifying for the game’s third-tier prize. The lucky ticket was sold at the Columbia Road Exxon at 12601 Old Columbia Pike in Montgomery County. The winning numbers for the December 8 drawing were 8, 32, 52, 56, 64 and Powerball 23.
While no one hit the jackpot, the grand prize has now climbed to an estimated $930 million for the next drawing on Wednesday, with a cash option of approximately $429 million. It remains one of the highest Powerball jackpots in recent memory.
Across Maryland, a total of 21,663 players won prizes in the drawing, with payouts ranging from $4 to $100.
Winners of prizes over $25,000 must claim their winnings at the Maryland Lottery Customer Resource Center in Baltimore, by appointment only. All winning tickets must be redeemed within 182 days of the draw date. Players are reminded to sign the back of their tickets and store them in a secure location.
Powerball drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.
