Silverton firehouse revs engines for fall fest, poker run and 5k

Toms River, NJ — The Silverton Volunteer Fire Company will turn its firehouse at 15 Kettle Creek Road into a community hub Saturday, launching an 80–100 mile motorcycle and classic car poker run, a USATF-certified 5K and a 1-mile fun run, and an all-day festival benefiting the department in partnership with the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

The 5K slate opens with race check-in at 8 a.m., the Fun Run at 9:30 a.m. and the 5K at 10 a.m., with participants encouraged to register at raceforum.com/silverton5k. The motorcycle/classic car Poker Run registers from 9 to 11 a.m. at the firehouse. Entry costs are $25 per rider or driver, $15 per additional passenger, and $25 per classic car or hot rod, with prizes going to the three best hands.

The community festival runs 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and features live music by The Phil Engel Band, free inflatable children’s rides, food, beer and wine sales, fire equipment displays, extrication and fire demonstrations, police K-9 and motorcycle unit demos, and craft and community vendors. Beer service is supplied by Icarus Brewing Co.

Vendors and sponsors can still join; details and forms are available at svfc29.com/festival-5k-poker-run/ or by emailing mcocco@trfire.org. One day, three ways to roll, run and rally for Silverton.
