Single-Car Collision in Harrington Leaves One Dead

HARRINGTON, DE – Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal single-car collision that occurred on Friday at around 6:16 p.m.

The crash took place on Vernon Road just west of Prospect Church Road and involved a black 2007 Chevrolet HHR.

The driver, a 77-year-old man from Denton, Maryland, was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

His name is being withheld until family and relatives are notified. The vehicle veered off the right side of the road and struck a small rock wall before coming to a rest at the bottom of a tax ditch.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash. Vernon Road was closed for about five hours for the investigation and clearance of the scene.
