Mystery Marion woman pockets $1 million Bank a Million jackpot
MARION, VA – An anonymous woman from Marion is celebrating a $1 million payday after matching six numbers in Virginia’s Bank a Million drawing and claiming the top prize after taxes.
The winning ticket was purchased at Cargo Oil, 758 North Main Street in Marion.
The winning numbers for the drawing were 8-15-20-23-27-37, with a Bonus Ball of 19. The winner matched the first six numbers, securing the $1 million top prize and not needing the Bonus Ball.
Under Virginia law, winners of $1 million or more may remain anonymous, and the Virginia Lottery does not release their identities.
Cargo Oil will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the $1 million winning ticket.
Bank a Million is played exclusively in Virginia, with drawings held Wednesdays and Saturdays at 11 p.m. The game’s top prizes of $1 million, $500,000 and $250,000 are structured so winners receive the stated amount after federal and state tax withholdings.
The odds of winning the $1 million top prize are 1 in 3.8 million. The odds of winning any prize are 1 in 18.3.
All Virginia Lottery profits support K-12 education. The ticket was sold in Smyth County, which received more than $5.6 million in lottery funds for K-12 education last fiscal year. In Fiscal Year 2025, the lottery raised more than $901 million for K-12 education statewide.
