Police say 61-year-old victim was attacked on porch of Wingohocking Street home

Philadelphia, PA – A late-night argument between a father and son turned deadly in North Philadelphia, where police say a 61-year-old man was fatally stabbed on the porch of his home Saturday night.

Officers from the city’s 25th District responded to the 6xx block of West Wingohocking Street at approximately 11:34 p.m. after receiving a report of a person with a weapon. When they arrived, they found the victim lying on the porch with apparent stab wounds to his neck.

A medic unit transported the man to Jefferson Einstein Philadelphia Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:11 a.m. Sunday.

Suspect identified as victim’s son

“The suspected offender, identified as the victim’s 28-year-old son, was taken into custody without incident,” police said.

Investigators say the stabbing stemmed from a dispute between the two.

“Preliminary investigation indicates that an argument occurred between the father and son,” officials said. “During the dispute, the offender stabbed the victim multiple times in the neck.”

Authorities have not released the names of those involved.

Investigation remains ongoing

Police emphasized that the details released so far are preliminary as the case continues to be investigated by the Homicide Unit.

“This investigation remains active and ongoing… Additional information will be provided as it becomes available,” police said.

No further information about charges or court proceedings has been released.
