Philadelphia, Pa. – A 34-year-old woman was hospitalized after a shooting erupted Wednesday evening on a residential stretch of South 6th Street, leaving neighbors gathered along the block as officers secured the scene.

The gunfire broke out at approximately 7:55 p.m. in the 2000 block of South 6th Street. The victim was struck in the leg and transported to Jefferson Center-City Hospital for treatment.

Hospital officials listed the woman in stable condition following her arrival. No additional injuries were reported in connection with the incident.

Investigators said there is currently no known motive for the shooting, and no arrests have been made. The case remains active as detectives work to determine the circumstances that led to the gunfire.

The investigation is being led by the department’s Shooting Investigation Group, which is responsible for handling non-fatal and fatal shooting cases across Philadelphia.
