SPRING VALLEY, N.Y. — A Rockland County jury has convicted a Spring Valley man of second-degree murder for the fatal stabbing of a 54-year-old man outside a bar in 2022.

Oscar Garcia-Garcia was found guilty of killing Luis Pinduisaca-Villa by stabbing him in the throat with a kitchen knife just before 1 a.m. on December 29, 2022. Spring Valley police arrested Garcia-Garcia later that afternoon.

Garcia-Garcia was charged alongside co-defendant Eustaquio Diaz-Gutierrez, who chose a bench trial instead of a jury trial. Judge Kevin F. Russo presided over both cases and found Diaz-Gutierrez guilty of third-degree assault, a misdemeanor, on March 14.

“The defendant in this case was convicted by a jury of twelve of his peers for Murder in the Second Degree,” Rockland County District Attorney Tom Walsh said in a statement. “He engaged in a horrific act of brutality that resulted in the death of the victim.”

Garcia-Garcia was remanded to the Rockland County Jail and faces up to 25 years to life in prison at his sentencing in June.
